Pre-orders are open for Project Management for Humans (2nd Edition)

Happy Friday! I have some good news I’ve been looking forward to sharing: Project Management for Humans, second edition is available for pre-order!

I first shared the news about the book and Book Club a couple of weeks ago at the Digital PM Summit in Asheville. Getting to talk about what’s changed in project management with a room full of people who do this work every day felt like exactly the right way to introduce it.

Revisiting a book I wrote in 2017 was a little weird, in the best way. Some of the advice still sounds like something I said to a client last Tuesday. Other parts made me realize how much the job has changed. Teams are more distributed, AI is showing up everywhere, and somehow we’re still leaving meetings with three different interpretations of what we just agreed to. I spent more time in this edition on what it takes to lead people through those moments, with new material on human-centered project management and the tools and judgment the job calls for today.

My friend Crystal Richards, PMP, wrote the foreword, and I’m so glad her voice opens this edition. If you’d like a peek inside, you can read Crystal’s foreword now. Just sign in if you already get my newsletter, or subscribe for free to read it.

The Book Club is back, too!

The Project Management for Humans Book Club is back with a new format and a workbook! Over ten weeks, we’ll work through the book in a small group, bring real project situations to the conversation, and build a playbook you can take back to work.

In past cohorts, my favorite moments were when someone brought a problem they’d been turning over for weeks and another PM asked the one question that helped them see it differently. I’m looking forward to more of that.

The next one starts February 2, 2027. We’ll meet Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. ET with optional office hours sessions mixed in. If you like small group discussion and learning from your peers, this is for you!

Early-bird registration is $999 through November 20. Take a look at the Book Club and save your seat.

If you’ve read the first edition, passed it along to a teammate, or told me what you wished I’d covered, thank you. Those conversations helped shape this edition. I’m excited for you to read it.

P.S. I’ve also been giving my site a new look and making more resources you can use on real projects. The first is a human-centered project check-in. Sign in to grab it if you’re already subscribed, or join the list if you’re new here. I’ll be publishing more regularly, and I’d love to hear what you think of the site or what you’d like me to make next. Hit reply if you’re reading this in your inbox.
