Writing a Book

Writing a Book

About six years ago I started this blog because I was unhappy with the complete lack of resources (and community) for people working as project managers in the digital space. Over the years I’ve put a lot of work in to sharing my ideas and experiences. I've published several articles here and in many other places. Needless to say, I’ve taken the opportunity to speak up and tell my corner of the world my feelings about what makes a good project manager…or digital project manager. Here’s the thing: I’m not stopping.

I’m thrilled and honored to announce that I’m writing a book on project management with Rosenfeld Media. This is a project that I’m excited about—one that I pursued. I spent a lot of time over the summer exploring my options and thought long and hard about how I’d want to get a book published. There are several ways to approach writing a book, but ultimately I wanted to work with a publisher who was also excited about my ideas and offered strong editorial support (because I need it to make my work better). After several discussions with Lou Rosenfeld, I knew that working with his team would be a good fit for me.

The working title of the book is Project Management for Humans, which in some silly way references my first blog post and first talk at SXSW. I feel in some way that I’m bringing it full circle, but at the same time, I’ve got a lot to share that has not been published yet. In a new way, with an editor, and more confidence.

I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but I’m ready. So ready. I’ll provide updates here and on the Rosenfeld Media site (I’ll have a page there), so I hope you’ll follow along and pick up the book when it’s out…later this year.
