Being a client

Do you know what it feels like to be a client? It's not easy. Especially if you're working for a large organization with many, many fickle stakeholders. I've been in that situation a couple of times, so I can always empathize with my clients who find themselves in that same position. But when you're working on a project with a smaller organization it can be so much more fun. When you're working on your own site with a friend it can be downright exciting.

So, as you can probably tell, I was recently a client. Yesenia Perez-Cruz redesigned this here bloggy blog, and I'm over the moon about the results. The process was easy-breezy: Yesenia showed me a sketch at one point and I got a little too exited. She switched it up on me a week later, and I couldn't believe my eyes. A tweak here, a tweak there, and we were in business. And believe it or not, it was all done in a WordPress.com template.

I'd like to think that I was a good client. But I'll let Yesenia speak for me on that. If there is any wisdom I can impart on being a client, it would be to trust your designer (or team of designers) and get excited about the work. If you have a question or a change to consider along the way, don't be shy. Speak your mind, because anyone can have a good idea, and no one knows what you want better than you (unless you work with Yesenia).
